Mulled Wine

Mulled Wine Recipe with Mulling Spices | Stash Tea

Mulled wine (a.k.a. spiced wine) is a great choice for a cozy and uplifting holiday drink. What makes this beverage even more enticing is that it’s a dump recipe, meaning all you have to do is gather the ingredients, dump them into your crockpot or put them on simmer on the stove, and wait. As you wait, the aroma of orange, star anise, cinnamon, and allspice will begin to fill the room. Sourcing the ingredients for this mulled wine recipe could be the most time-consuming part of making these winter drinks, but we make it easy and fool-proof by putting together all the necessary spices and natural flavors in our Mulling Spice.

What can we say, this drink is a mug full of fall spiciness!

How to make Mulled Wine with Mulling Spice

There are two ways to enjoy our Mulling Spice blend: infused in wine or in cider! Whether you prefer mulled wine or mulled cider, simply add our Mulling Spices to the preferred base over low heat. Add apple slices as you brew the mulled drink and not only will it make the final drink even more delicious, the apples also make a flavorful topping for oatmeal.

Mulled Wine Recipe with Mulling Spices | Stash Tea

Ingredients

Makes three 8 oz drinks

Directions

  1. Pour bottle of basic red wine into your crockpot or a big pot.
  2. Add in two tablespoons Stash Mulling Spice blend.
  3. Top with apple rounds (or any of the additional garnishes listed below!).
  4. Simmer on low in a crockpot or on the stovetop, using a lid, for at least an hour.
  5. Strain the spices and serve.

Spice up your mulling spice with these garnishes:

  • Apple slices - for a somewhat sweeter flavor
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup, pure - substantially sweeten up the flavor
  • Sliced oranges - more citrus and a little more tart
  • Cinnamon sticks - for a slightly more spice-forward mulled wine
  • Unfiltered apple juice - add apple flavors to the mix

Are you planning to make a bigger serving or host a little holiday get together? Use 4 heaping tablespoons of Mulling Spice for every gallon of apple cider or red wine.
